RAID ... Icy Dock

Since it has been a long time since I've managed to post anything ... life decided to ass rape me for the past year and a half ... I thought I would start fresh with a little thing called "My Effing Icy Dock"!!

I recently bought the MB662USEB-2S ... and so far life is good! This handy little 2 bay RAID enclosure was simple to to get working. It has a variety of connections that you can use ... USB2.0, Firewire 400/800 or eSata. You can get it working in one of 3 configurations. Non-RAID ... which will essentially show 2 drives. RAID 0 ... which will mount 2 drives a one large mounted drive. RAID 1 ... mirrored. Personally I like the RAID1 so that I can recover my data should one drive go bad. The craptastic thing about RAID 0 is that if one drive fails, all the data is inaccessible. Use RAID 0 at your own risk. While it is awesome to have one massive drive, I'd be more interested in recovering my crap if one drive fails ... which is always does. Just sayin' ...

If you want more info on the products available or perhaps this product specifically ... visit the Icy Dock website.
